I'VE BEEN SCAMMED

I’VE BEEN SCAMMED.  WHAT A NIGHTMARE!

As a wife, mother, and grandmother I consider myself a smart adult. I was simply looking to make some extra money from home, so how did I allow myself to be scammed out of valuable time and money? It was a very expensive lesson that I have learned and I would like to share a little of my story with you.

I had worked in the business world before, but never with an internet opportunity. I had no idea what legitimate home based business opportunities were and figured that since the advertisement was a flyer in the newspaper, it had to be legit because the person was local. After many phone conversations with this person and her “upline,” she finally agreed to meet me(she never even blinked when she told me I would soon be able to buy that beach house I was going to save for). So, I went to a few “rah rah” calls and was sold on the idea that I definitely would make lots of money with them and quickly.

Well, I paid my money, had some training on how to use the “system”, and then was told to buy some leads, call them, go to all the calls, and attend all the conferences (which were not cheap!). I did all of these, and worked feverishly and spent a huge amount of money like I was told was needed in home based business opportunities if you wanted to make money.

Long story short, after almost 3 years of diligently knocking myself out(and almost broke), I finally realized that legitimate home based business opportunities aren’t found easily. This one finally closed its doors leaving many of us out in the cold.

•  Am I willing to take on the many responsibilities that I will be facing? An entrepreneur that is just starting out must juggle many roles and still have time to work on building wealth. I would be a bill collector, the head marketer, bookkeeper, and the chief salesperson.
•  Am I going to be able to avoid burnout? Since I don’t have young children at home, I knew it would be hard to step away. Will I be able to develop a good balance between work and family life? Am I going to be successful at building wealth and not lose touch with friends or upsetting my family?

• Evaluate and Choose a Solution – I give careful thought to make sure that my solution will not cause any problems somewhere else in my business plan.

It is NOT a good idea to assume that he or she is still working, working for the same company, or even still married, for instance. Instead of asking, “How’s the husband or wife?” you could ask how the “Family is doing.” Rather than inquiring about their job at the insurance company, you could ask “What been happening with your work?”
• It is important to stay FOCUSED! If your conversation is going along smoothly, make sure you keep it running that way. It is always better to have a great conversation with one person in a short time than your trying to have 20 conversations with nothing accomplished because you are thinking about talking to the next person, or maybe even what you are doing next.
• You can always tell a story! If someone asks you how you are doing today, you can always answer in a story, not just I’m OK. Everyone loves a great story whether it is something that has happened at work, or even something that has happened at home, just keep it simple and Positive! That will be far more effective than facts or statements and more likely than not they will be interested in continuing the conversation.
• Lastly, body language SPEAKS volumes! Always, Always when speaking with someone face to face, make sure you NEVER cross your arms in front of you! How do you feel when someone you are talking to does that? It makes me feel like they do not want to be there and the space becomes very uncomfortable. Also, be sure to look at the person you are speaking with and never keep looking around instead of maintaining eye contact. It doesn’t matter what you are saying, if your body language doesn’t match your words, you have lost control of the conversation and once again, this can make it seem like you have better things to be doing or somewhere else to be.
