- I asked myself if I was passionate about the service or product that I would be selling. Is this opportunity going to bring the powerful wealth building that I will need? You will need fervor to get through the tough times since the start-up phase is very stressful, especially in the early days when the hours are quite long and the income is lean (if any at all).
- Can I tolerate the risk? There is NEVER a guarantee of success or promise for building wealth…or even a constant paycheck. Entrepreneurship may not be for you if you and or your family depend on you to pay the bills.
- I have always worked for someone and I had to decide if I was going to be good at making decisions. There was not going to be anyone else to decide for me how to advertise…Do I incorporate? Do I borrow money from friends or family if I need to? These questions come very early in the journey to wealth building.
- Am I willing to take on the many responsibilities that I will be facing? An entrepreneur that is just starting out must juggle many roles and still have time to work on building wealth. I would be a bill collector, the head marketer, bookkeeper, and the chief salesperson.
- Am I going to be able to avoid burnout? Since I don’t have young children at home, I knew it would be hard to step away. Will I be able to develop a good balance between work and family life? Am I going to be successful at building wealth and not lose touch with friends or upsetting my family?
